General Information

What is VisualMap?
VisualMap is a 32-bit Windows distribution mapping program for New Zealand. It includes many features that take advantage of the Windows environment. You are able to display several maps simultaneously on the screen.

VisualMap is a program independent from the database (Microsoft Access Database) from which you are using to store your data.

You can use VisualMap to map you distribution of families and/or genera or just a species. VisualMap will print high quality maps for manuscripts.

How does VisualMap work?
All you have do is to tell VisualMap the basic structure of the database and enter your Species Code or use the Search Tree and VisualMap will draw the map and plot the data for you.

What plotting styles are there?
There are two main styles.

» Acu-Lock: This style centres a symbol on the exact grid number from the database.
  » Range
: This style plots the data to a preset grid overlay of New Zealand. For example if a plot falls within one of these grid squares, that grid square is filled in, which indicates a record. The range can be set between 5 to 20 kilometres.
